OUR STORY...

These sweet sisters are darling, healthy pups who have come a long way from the straggly, starving puppies found along a rural street on a freezing morning in mid-December. Their mother appeared to be an Aussie-mix, so that is what we are calling these little girls as well. They appear to have had very minimal socialization prior to coming here, but they are blossoming now and will continue to do so when they have some one-on-one attention in their new Forever Homes.

Back at the Rescue Ranchette

The girls are all back at the main rescue now. Hopefully their families will find them soon! They have all come so far and are genuinely sweet and lovely puppies who will make wonderful companions for some lucky adopters.

The girls could also use Foster Homes in the meantime. If you think you could take one (or more!) of these sweeties into your home while they wait for adoption, please fill-out an online Foster Application or send us an email!

Will You Be My Valentine? (Poppy)

Poppy is healing well from her surgery, and is on her way to another foster home today. We will miss the sweet girl.

Poppy Recovers

Poppy was spayed, microchipped and vaccinated today. She was nervous on the ride there, and just huddled in my lap as I drove. I picked her up and she was tired, but when she spied me her tail just started wagging. Then she was nervous again on the way home, but still groggy enough to sleep most of the way. Again, her tail started wagging when we walked into the house, and she knew she was safe again. She is now resting in a crate comfortably. This is one step closer to her forever home.

Cover Girl - Poppy

"Ok, Poppy, give me shy, I need to see shy and bashful."

"Good, Good, now I need to see sad and lonesome. Act like you are thinking about your forever home, and you just can't wait any longer."

"Alright, Poppy, now I need playful, frisky, puppy-stuff!"

Where's Poppy?

I could not find Poppy in Chewy's crate, nor on the backdoor mat, and she was quiet. "Where had she gone?" I wondered. I found her snuggled up on the couch with sick Rowan today.

No Help At All - Poppy

Poppy wanted to help change the bed today, which mostly consisted of her bounding all over the bed as I wrangled the sheets on. I would go to snatch her off the bed and she would roll over just out of my grasp. Finally, I caught her, and told her she would have to get off the bed and I got this...

Poppy Rings The Doggie Bells!

Today Poppy rang the bells to go outside to go potty. She has adjusted a bit to the weather, but insists on getting her business done and coming inside immediately.

She was very cuddly today, and just laid in my lap and took a nap this morning while I read a book. Then she tried to eat some crayons, but the cuddling was nice. :)

Cuddle Flower - Poppy

Poppy enjoys spending time in the crate with Chewy. She has been sleeping alone in the crate at night, and is doing really well with crate training in that respect.

She continues to win our hearts with her sweet and gentle nature, and her puppy antics. She loves dogs almost as much as she loves people.

She knows how to sit, and whenever I enter the kitchen (where she eats) she is at my feet, sitting, waiting in anticipation of being fed. She also appears to be very treat motivated.

You Want Me To Go Where? (Poppy)

Well, Poppy has not taken to the change in weather well. She clearly prefers to be inside. We had a little setback today, as she protested going out in the rain to go potty. She usually bolts out the door with the other dogs, but today, she froze at the threshold of the doorway, contemplating if it was worth it to go outside. Most of the time, she decided it was not and had to be carried, against her own will to her potty spot.

An Update from Tulip & Violet

Here is an excerpt from their temporary foster home:
Both are doing just fine, have adjusted to our house quickly. Violet is just adorable--so gentle, never mouths me. Tulip, on the other hand ... we are working w/ her, to stop her from biting and chewing on people.

Getting Along - Poppy

Poppy gets along very well with the dogs in the house. She really just rolls over, belly up at the slightest thing. This had actually made for peaceful interactions between her and my rambunctious boys. She is still a puppy though, and every time I let her out the door she runs from one dog to the other to get them to play. Seamus usually takes her up on the offer, and they play tug with the rope toys often.

She gets along equally as well with her human foster family. Yesterday, she got out of her crate (I left door unlatched,) after a nap, and came right to me in another room. I was folding clothes and when I went to place something in a basket, I looked down to find Poppy sitting there, just watching me. Happy as could be. She didn't even have an accident, and then we went outside were she did her business and ran back inside. She has gone two days without an accident in the house. We are on our way to full housebreaking!

Poppy Settles In

We are so happy to have Poppy with us now. She was a little shy at first, but quickly warmed up. She is a sweet dog, and her puppy antics are fun to watch. She has meet so many new people, and even walked to pick up the kids from school on a leash. When people meet her, they can't keep their hands off of her, and she is really enjoying that. (With warnings to wash their hands, as she has just a tad bit of a cough left from a respiratory illness she is recovering from.) She is a tad bit gentler than some puppies I have fostered. She is not as mouthy, but she is obviously still a puppy and loves to chew objects.
She is enjoying her new foster dog brothers. She jumps on them and chases them, and plays tug with the toy rope with Seamus (an australian shepherd.)
She is working on her housebreaking, and really understands how to get down to business outside so she can get right back in the house. :) She is great in the crate, and sleeps there all night now. The first night here she had a hard time being separated from her little mates, though she made most of the night just fine alone in her crate. A few hours before morning, after a quick potty break {{{yawn}}} she just came into bed and slept with her foster mommy until it was time to get up. She didn't need to do that last night, and made the whole evening in the crate.
We look forward to getting to know her better, and finding her a forever home too!

New Foster Homes for Two Weeks!

Some of the other rescue group fosters are stepping in to help the girls while our backyard is being worked on. Poppy has gone with Dani and her family (three kiddos and two big dogs-- lots of new experiences for her!) and Violet & Tulip have gone together to Catherine's (a doggie door, two dogs, two kittens, a cat, a guinea pig, & a teenager!!). We hope the girls have a wonderful stay and we look forward to welcoming them home in two weeks-- IF they haven't found their homes by then! The girls are 100% still available for adoption while they are away. Please fill out an online application if you are interested!

Indoor Playtime

We have been having work done in our backyard this week (a new fence and some landscaping), so the girls have been stuck inside most of the time. They have been good girls-- a little bored and mischievous though! The yard is going to be off-limits for about two weeks, so we may move the girls to another foster home temporarily so they can get more exercise and playtime.

Good Luck, Iris!

Well, we broke up the gang today, sending lucky Iris to her new home for her trial period. We are very excited for her, though I am sure it is hard to leave her sisters and foster "brother" behind! Hopefully their new homes and Forever Families are right around the corner as well!

p.s. This is a little kiddie picnic table, they aren't really that big!

Play Day!

Tulip & Poppy went to Taurus Training for the first time today for Doggy Daycare! They had a fabulous time playing with all of the other puppies and "minies" and got a wonderful report card to show for it! Good Girls!

Iris has seemed a bit under the weather the last few days and we've heard Violet cough a few times, so we kept them home to be on the safe side.
